About Jess

Hey guys!

So…here are the basics. I was born and raised in Greenville, SC, as an only child to two loving and quirky parents, Bob & Marsha. Unlike Ben, I was not raised in a traditional Christian family, which I think makes us balanced. Keepin’ It Real Yo!

Shortly after I met Ben in 2002, I began attending RWOC. I graduated from the Focus on the Family Institute in 2006, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Anderson University in 2007. Two weeks later I married my high-school sweetheart & best friend. A few months later we were asked to Pastor the Asheville Campus of RWOC and I was ordained by Redemption Ministerial Fellowship

I’m laughing as I type because 50% of all that, was never in “the plan”. I am a bonified control freak! My ducks are not only in a row, but they are alphabetized and color coded. My “plan” started unraveling as soon as I met Ben. I don’t think my life was going in a bad direction by any means, but he sure did derail wherever it was going. After collecting my ducks, I realized I liked this “plan w/ Ben” a lot more. Ben is the dreamboat/Prince Charming, every girl dreams about but only a lucky few ME, gets! Looking back I can’t imagine how a girl like me-got a guy like him-and became a Pastor to boot! God has an awesome sense of humor-thats how!

Me and Prince Charming

In my down time, I love creating beautiful things out of ugly, out dated, and useless objects. Next to my besties and my husband, Spaint (spray paint) and I are, like, just the tightest! After visiting this site, I’m even more in love -there is a whole community of Spaint friends I never knew existed! In an effort to relax more and fan my frugal flame,  I’ve started visiting thrift stores and doing some “Trash to Treasure-ing”. Nothing like getting a little Spaint under your nails!

My first of many thrifty nifty projects

I’m currently trying to raise a baby elephant,  find my purpose, let go of control, and learn to balance life in ministry. My ducks have abandoned me. They couldn’t handle the pressure. So I am left to PROG (Pray & Blog) my way through. I’d love for you to join me now in a moment of PROG…

What are you “currently trying to…” do lately?

Love the chair. You did a great job with it. Is this a new business venture? Re-purposing furniture?

      Thanks!
Turning old into new and beautiful is my way of “nesting”.
Since we rent, I can’t make any major changes to our house, so I make changes to our “stuff”!
